Description
HartWell Magnesium Glycinate is a premium evening capsule: a high-quality, highly absorbable form of magnesium made for rest, calm, and recovery. Each serving delivers 275 mg of elemental magnesium from 2,500 mg of magnesium glycinate, so you know exactly what you’re taking. No mystery blends. No inflated claims.
Glycinate binds magnesium to glycine, a calming amino acid in its own right. That is why this quality form is easy on the stomach, well tolerated, and kind enough for nightly use. It supports your natural wind-down, everyday calm when busy days drain your energy, and the muscle relaxation your body asks for after intensive training days. Formulated with women in mind, it also offers gentle support for comfort, mood, and calm through every phase of your cycle.
HartWell is melatonin-free by design. We restore the mineral you already run on instead of adding a hormone, so mornings stay clear. No artificial additives, no hidden ingredients, and every batch is third-party tested for purity and potency. One serving each evening. High quality, plainly promised, delivered nightly.
Our dedication to excellence extends to the ingredients we use, illustrated in every product we create. We use high quality magnesium glycinate (one of 8+ forms of magnesium on the market) because it’s highly absorbable (aka your body is able to use it effectively), and it’s easy on the digestive tract. Therefore our ingredients consist of:

Sleep support without melatonin
Melatonin is a hormone, and taking it nightly can leave you groggy the next morning. HartWell contains none of it. Magnesium is a mineral your body already uses every day, so it is suited to long-term, nightly use.
No melatonin, no morning grogginess.
A mineral, not a hormone.
Made for nightly, long-term use.
Clinical Research

Cycle.
Magnesium and the monthly cycle have been studied for decades. In a double-blind clinical trial, women who supplemented magnesium across consecutive cycles reported lower overall premenstrual symptom scores than the placebo group, with the clearest effects on mood and comfort, and a recent systematic review of nutritional interventions reached supportive conclusions for the psychological side of the month.
Sleep is where magnesium's evidence is most direct, and it was tested with the exact form inside Hartwell capsules. In a randomized, placebo-controlled trial, adults with poor sleep took magnesium bisglycinate every evening for four weeks and reported measurably better sleep than the placebo group, with the strongest improvements in people whose diets run low on magnesium, which is nearly half of us.
Randomized, placebo-controlled trial, published in Nature and Science of Sleep, 2025, 155 adults.
Calm.
Everyday stress has its own evidence trail. In an eight-week randomized trial, adults living with elevated stress and low magnesium status supplemented daily and recorded significantly lower stress scores by the end of the study. A University of Leeds review of the wider literature points the same way, with the majority of included studies reporting benefits for subjective feelings of stress and mild anxiety.
Randomized controlled trial, PLoS ONE, 2018, 264 adults; systematic review, University of Leeds, 2017, 18 studies.
Why we use glycinate
Magnesium comes in many forms, and some are hard on the stomach. We use magnesium glycinate, a chelated form that binds magnesium to glycine, a naturally calming amino acid, so it stays easy to take night after night.
Chelated form, highly absorbable.
Easy on the stomach, no digestive upset.
Two calming compounds in one capsule.
Frequently asked questions
How do I take it?
Take 3 capsules a day: one in the morning, one at lunch, and one in the evening, 30 to 60 minutes before bed. Take them with or without food, ideally with a glass of water. For best results, take it every day.
New to magnesium? Start with the evening capsule only for the first few nights, then build up to the full three.
See best results after 3+ weeks of consistent in-take.
Do not exceed the recommended serving. If you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or have a medical condition, consult your healthcare provider before use.
Who is Hartwell for?
Adults who want steady, daily support for rest, calm and recovery, especially when full days, screens and stress run their magnesium down. Nearly half of adults do not reach the recommended magnesium intake, so most people have room to close the gap. It is not intended for anyone under 18, and if you are pregnant, nursing or taking medication, speak with your doctor first.
When will I notice a difference?
Most people notice something within the first two weeks. Some need the full thirty nights, especially if their magnesium intake has been low for a while. Consistency matters more than anything, so take it every evening and give it a month before you judge it.
Are there any side effects?
Magnesium glycinate is the gentle form, chosen for exactly that reason. Some people notice more vivid dreams in the first weeks; this is common, usually settles, and taking your capsules earlier in the evening helps. Taking more than the recommended serving can upset digestion, so do not double up. If anything feels off, stop and speak with your doctor.
How much magnesium is in each serving?
One serving is three capsules and provides 275 mg of elemental magnesium from 2,500 mg of magnesium glycinate, roughly 92 mg per capsule. One bottle holds 90 capsules, a full thirty nights.
Are the products certified?
Every bottle is produced in an FDA-registered, cGMP compliant facility in the United States and third-party tested for identity and purity.
Should I check with my doctor before?
If you take medication, live with a health condition, or are pregnant or nursing, speak with your doctor before adding any supplement, this one included. Magnesium supplements can interact with some medications. We are happy to share the full ingredient list and certificate of analysis for that conversation.

Me and my husband I use this everyday. We enjoy knowing we are doing good for our body.
I have been using it for the past month and find it helps immensely with recovery from long days and intense workouts. I wake up feeling rested and refreshed and I look forward to taking it before I go to bed.
I will never buy another brand of magnesium again. I am a caregiver and work from home so stress can get in the way of getting good sleep. I absolutely love this product. So grateful!!
I think this product is helping me sleep (or it may be psychosomatic). The only thing I'm slightly dissappointed about is that several of the capsules are empty.
The effect is pretty pleasant but I find the capsules larger than expected. I take them one at a time with a full glass of water, and suggests smaller capsules.
I have a mildly upset stomach on the first three nights which I took on an empty stomach. The calming effect it brings is great but I am unsure whether to continue.
As an athletic enthusiast, I take several different supplements to support my training, and this magnesium has quickly become one of the staples. Since I started taking it, I've noticed a real difference in how I recover from injuries. I have had less soreness and I'm able to get back to training sooner. Highly recommend for anyone who trains regularly and wants to support their recovery.
In my later 20's I have a new set of fun hormonal issues that come with being a woman. And one of those is insomnia before and during menstruation. My worst times would always hit about 2 weeks before my period. Since I have started taking the supplements, my cramps I
usually get were less intense. Also, food cravings have been less. I truly impressed by it ad would recommend it for people to try.
The minimal formulas with no silica, steric acid and those pesky fillers is a HUGE plus. They are also 3rd party tested. I always make sure it is third party tested and made in the USA
I've taken magnesium for years but gave up on citrate because of the laxative effect. Two weeks into Hartwell and I've had zero stomach issues — I'm curious, what makes glycinate behave so differently?
I can also vouch for the benefits of Magnesium glycinate for menopause induced insomnia. It hasn't been a quick fix for me but I notice a difference if I don't take it.
Out of the blue, I began having severe nighttime leg cramps. I tried stretching, hydration, heat. The solution? These magnesium supplements. The difference - a good night's sleep.
The product is alright but it took a couple of days until it arrived. And i feel lie there where less than 90 capsules in it as it was empty very quickly.
